SAFARA is the story of a solidarity journey to the heart of Tanzania. With the goal of continuing to turn good intentions into concrete actions, this time the Solidarity Couriers of TAKE ME BACK set off to Africa, crossing vast deserts, green fields and frenetic cities, visiting schools and villages and coming into contact with the ancestral local people. The smiles of the children will tell the most beautiful story. A tale of promises kept and of tangible hope, where the energy of the Solidarity Couriers and their spirit of adventure will take the viewers on a journey that will leave them breathless, make them reflect and inspire them to believe in the power of solidarity.
Paolo Calcagni
He approached the world of cinematography during his teenage years, making short films (focusing on social issues such as dyslexia, mafia, and autism) that gained national recognition — including first prize at the Corto Festival Lanuvio in 2015 and at the Cervignano Film Festival in 2016.
He then obtained his master’s degree in Computer Science at the University of Milan and continued his studies in the world of cinematography as a self-taugh, making videos both for associations such as Amnesty International and Erasmus+ and for companies and individuals.
The docufilm “Safara” (2024), the result of a commitment that lasted several years, is his first feature film and emerges as the most ambitious project in his artistic journey.
